Survivalism Abilities
Tracking
The survivalism skill allows you to track animals, monsters and other players. Tracking requires 25 stamina and a compass. In order to track a creature or player, type:
/track (player or creature name)
Ex: /track creeper
Ex: /track luciddream
If you are successful, you will be told the general direction of your target (North, South, East, West) and you will be told if the tracks are "very faint" (1000 blocks away or more), "not very fresh" (500-1000 blocks), "somewhat fresh" (200-500 blocks) or "very fresh" (199 blocks away or less). If the creature or player is very far away, you will most likely need to track them multiple times, getting closer and closer after each track. You can track animals starting at 0 skill and will always succeed when you have 30 skill. Once you have 25 skill you can start tracking monsters, and will always succeed when you have 60 skill. At 50 skill you can start tracking players. Your chance to successfully track a player is based on both your survivalism skill and your target's survivalism skill. The higher the target's skill the harder it is to track the target. If you fail to track a player who is within 500 blocks of your position, they will be notified with the message "The hairs on the back of your neck stand up."
Camping
Camping allows you to set up a temporary camp fire that slowly heals all the players near the campfire. To set up a camp, you must look where you want to set up the camp and type:
/camp
If you are successful, a camp fire will appear and it will burn for 1 minute, healing everyone within 5 blocks for half a heart every 2 seconds.
Based on your survivalism skill you have a chance to gain additional drops from animals. You have a small chance for sheep to drop an extra wool, pigs to drop an extra porkchop and for chickens to drop an extra feather. Based on your survivalism skill you have a chance of getting an apple, a stick, cocoa beans or a leaf block from destroyed leaf blocks on trees. Your survivalism skill impacts how large of an area you hoe at once. With 0 skill you hoe like normal, (one block at a time) and with 100 skill you will hoe a circle with the radius of 3.
How to gain survivalism skill
You gain survivalism skill by using tracking, camping, or killing mobs and monsters. You can only gain skill from tracking if you have a chance to fail the track, so up to 30 when tracking animals, up to 60 when tracking monsters and up to 100 when tracking players. Survivalism can also be trained when dogs tamed by the Taming skill attack or kill mobs.
