Taming is a non-combat skill on the Last Shard. You can tame up to three wolves/dogs to assist you in combat or protect you from monsters.
The taming skill does not appear to affect ocelots/cats at this time.
Commands
Check the number of tamed wolves (dogs) you currently have out of the max allowed, including the dog's name. The default name is Wolfy.
/pets
Recall/revive tamed wolves to you from far away.
(Costs 20 stamina)
/pets call
Skill Level
- From skill level 0.0 to 49.9 you may only have one dog.
- From skill level 50.0 to 99.9 you may have up to two dogs.
- At skill level 100.0 you may have up to three dogs.
Currently, breeding animals are not included in this count, so you could still have more than the allowed number of animals by breeding, but they will not be revived or recalled with the "/pets" command
Special Notes
- Dogs do not retain dyed collars when slain, revived, or recalled.
- Pets call command works even if tamed dogs are sitting somewhere else.
- Recalled dogs have low HP when summoned (HP is reflected by the height they hold their tail, refer to Health and Feeding for more info)
- Dogs can be helpful to train the Survivalism easily, as their kills contribute to your Survivalism training.
- If your tamed dogs are sitting nearby when you are attacked, they will stop resting to attack your attacker.
- Unlike in Vanilla Minecraft, tamed dogs will fight creepers. (need to test this for Ghasts and tamed horses)
Training Tips
You can train Taming by recalling your dog(s), or have your dog(s) fight/kill another thing, including other dogs. The easiest way to train taming is to find a monster spawner in which the dogs can reach the enemies. Then you just need to periodically hit the spawned monster, otherwise, the dog(s) will not attack it. To also help speed this up, or when your dog(s) die, you can use the "/pets call" command for an RNG chance to increase Taming skill.
- NOTE: Bred dogs do not seem to contribute to Taming skill when they kill/hurt enemies and therefore would hinder training the skill.
